faithful followers of "This week in Doom", here we are in the year 2016. As
I have been doing for the majority of the history of Doom's existence, I
will continue to bring you new doom wads, new reviews, updated news and much more. This
particular page is my modest attempt to keep you abreast of all the current
goings on in the Doom community - new Doom wads, new Doom 3 maps, updates on
projects, Doom engines and more. Enjoy and Keep on Dooming!

responsibility for TWID and doing the research and writing up TWID for us.
Also, Thanks to you, the reader(s), and Community, which have kept Doom

My apologies for the late release this week, the
files came to me a couple of days late and then I was busy with life, so,
This Week in Doom: 03.06.16
It's funny how over the years, most games tend to fade away into
memories we reminisce on later, but one game has had the vast staying
power that even the games wedged into our fondest memories could never
reach; Doom. Doom is over 22 years old now and the community is just as
strong as ever, with absolutely no signs of downsizing any time soon.
It's very likely that the community will continue to grow for the next
50 years; that's the staying power of Doom. It is a truly special thing
and just damn relaxing to play. :)
Well I'm a bit late to the party on this one, but the founder of this
site, Bob Larkin, released the second map of his most current set (and
the third is almost their too) about two weeks ago. This one is called
"Dilemma" and takes the E1M2 mapslot. It is meant to be played in a
continuous run after "Claustrophobia." It's a pretty fun map and
features 2 different routes to take to finish the level. Fun, solid map;
check it out right away if you haven't already!
Let's check out this week's submissions to the archives, as stated there
are 10 this week!
First up we have "No Remorse" by youraverageamir; found here:
This wad runs in zDoom with the Doom 2 iWad. This wad was likely a first
wad, but keep at it man and one day you'll be making some really sweet
Next up is a map called "Something Awful" by Bzzrak Ktazzz and can be
This wad runs in vanilla under the Ultimate Doom iWad. It features a
fake exit and extra boxy rooms filled with mobs of enemies that make
little sense. Basically, it is its name. Lol. But seriously, keep at it
Third up this week is a megawad called "Mano Laikas: A road to Gamzatti"
by Nicolas Monti, which can be found here:
This megawad runs in vanilla under the Doom 2 iWad.
While I can't say I was a fan of the texturing, this was a pretty fun
megawad to play. Give it a shot when you can.
Following that is a DM called "boo" by Aardappel; find it here:
This DM map runs in any Doom port with the Doom 2 iWad. This map looks
nice and seems like it'd make a fun duel map. Grab a buddy and get some
Fifth is a wad called "BID2" by Serious_MOod and can be found here:
This wad contains 2 maps that run in PrBoom+ under the Doom 2 iWad.
What a fun map! This reminds me very much of "Toxxika" by FranckFRAG in
that the level of detail was just fantastic, the gameplay was ruthless,
and I had fun dying over and over, heh. The second level is really just
a "The End" level, but it looks pretty darn cool as well. Definitely
give this beast a shot today!
Next is a wad called "Escape From Castle Hitler" by Aidan Geisler
(Luigi2600), which can be found here:
This wad runs in the 31st mapslot of the Doom 2 iWad and was tested in
zDoom. This WolfenDoom wad was okay.
Seventh this week is a wad called "newik1" by Memfis; found here:
That's right, he's back; after a couple months we find out Memfis just
couldn't stay away. This wad runs in PrBoom+ (-complevel 2) under the
Doom 2 iWad.
For those who have played his maps before, Memfis is pretty reliable for
making above average maps. Give this one a shot.
The following wad is called "Hellborg" by Erdem KIRMIZI and can be found
This wad contains six maps for the Doom 2 iWad to be run in Zandronum.
These maps were very nice looking and a lot of fun to play. They are all
big maps, but between the fun gameplay, the nice detailing/texturing,
and the well-done lighting you just can't help but feel the need to see
what's around the next corner. A bit of switch hunting in here, but
never so bad that I didn't know where to go right away. Definitely give
these a download right away!
The ninth wad this week is called "There and back again." by Muff1n,
which can be found here:
Run this wad in GzDoom under the Doom 2 iWad and contains 9 maps. These
maps were pretty fun to play and didn't look that bad. They were not
that challenging, making them a nice romp.
Our final upload to the archives this week is an update to the mod,
"Beautiful Doom (version 126.96.36.199)" by Agent_Ash aka Jekyll Grim Payne
aka zer0; find it here:
This mod runs in zDoom or better. Everybody loves Beautiful Doom. Not
much more needs to be said aside from the name. The update makes things
more vanilla-like, which is an awesome step in the right direction!

Starting with DoomWorld, there are a couple sweet wads that have come
The first is called "Miasma" by tourniquet!
This map is very big and very awesome; it is an absolute must-play for
every Doomer! Absolutely Cacowad material in that its looks make you
drool and it's gameplay makes you want to play it again. It's also a
pretty massive map coming in at just under 1,000 monsters! Check this
map out right now!

Author Lainos, who created the atmospheric "Comatose" map, has released
a new map called "Urotsuki 2: Cargo Cult" which is to be the first of
three maps in this set.
This map runs in PrBoom+ (-complevel 2) with .OGG support under the Doom
2 iWad. The level of detail and beauty of this map would be shocking had
I not played "Comatose" when that came out. This is certainly one of the
best detailed, fun maps there is. With just under 300 monsters it's a
nice sized map for that Doom fix you know you need right about now.

Over on the zDoom forums Blackgaze has finished his monster pack based
on the old game Spellcross. These monsters are pretty cool. Give them a
check when you can!

their forums. This thing is sweet, so head on over there and see what
he's been cooking up!
One Man Doom has three new reviews up! These continue from last week's
focus on zrrion.
The first one is a zrrion map called "The Core," which can be found

And the final review for the week is about Realm667's Doomja-vu
Competition last year, which was won by zrrion with the map "Mouldy Old
Void," but featured other fantastic maps such as Sgt. Shivers' "Put Up

Wads In Progress shows a new Tolwyn map in development. It's called

The Oblige webpage has some news! V7 is on the way and the changes sound

Andy Olivera continues to update the DooMed Speed Demo Archives week in
and week out and he has my total respect for doing so for so long a
