Description : A full episode replacement for Doom Episode 3
Story : Observation Post Romero was established soon after the discovery of what the UAC officially refers to as
the "Structure of Unknown Origin" but what the staff of the base calls "The Green Temple." The first team
sent to investigate returned with corrupted data and conflicting account. The second team did not return at
all. Electromagnetic seals were established over the entrances to the temple, and the Post Romero became little
more than a weigh station while the big wigs debated their next move. Turns out the next move was not theirs to
make. Alarms sounded, most of the base went into lock-down and emergency power. Then the screams started.
There's no telling how they got in, but you're damn sure where they came from. If you can figure out how
to raise those seals, maybe you can invade them right back. They know how to dish it out, lets see how they take it.
Levels :E3M1 - The Green Temple - Find your way in, kill 'em all, keep going.
E3M2 - Village of the Damned - Fight your way toward the big house and into the rocky foothills of Hell.
E3M3 - Beelzebub's Bluffs - A running battle across the spine of the mountains.
E3M4 - The Marble Manse - A fortress perched in the mountains guards the entrance to the next circle.
E3M5 - Tightrope - How do you dodge when you have nowhere to go?
E3M6 - Devil's Dance - The big baddies are all over the place and you may not have the firepower to handle them.
Don't stop moving 'till you find the exit!
E3M7 - The Heart of Hell - Was this place carved into something living, or built out of something dead?
E3M8 - Gateways - A nexus of so many realms, maybe one of them has a way home.
E3M9 - The Next Plane - Guess you took a wrong turn somewhere huh?

ADooM Review

Overview

Zombie and Demon infested labs, a demon filled temple outside. This sounds like the start of a videogame. Oh wait, thatís exactly what this is. A wad pack by two incredibly talented brothers, titled ďADooM.Ē Itís a complete act 3 replacement to Doom 1. That being said, donít think this follows the original act 3. The brothers came up with a story, and told it too (through the environment!). As impressive as it sounds (and is), I can also say that it isnít for everyone. Specifically I feel people who are looking for easier, bite sized mods. ADooM comes in hot with difficult, fun level concepts. Unfortunately this bites it in the butt on one specific level.

Design

Did I mention the creators are talented? Each level is varied, and has its own theme. This doesnít hurt it though. Levels share enough common ground to make sense in the flow of locations. Not to mention everything looks and feels meticulously designed, even the lighting. While keeping the aesthetic of Doom 1, this mod makes levels bigger and better. Way bigger actually. These maps will take you some time, especially if you are playing on harder difficulties. ESPECIALLY E3M5. That level gave me PTSD. Maybe Iím just not good at dodging hordes of enemies on thin walkways with lava under the walkways. My point being that some of these maps can feel REALLY hard. Especially with the particularly brutal enemy placement (incredibly well done though). But with enough patience and quick thinking they can be conquered.

Gameplay

As far as gameplay goes, itís somewhat run of the mill Doom; turn off that jump and sprint-lock. Except levels are significantly larger, there are a lot more enemies, and keys and switches can be very well hidden. Secrets are well hidden as well, but I sometimes had less trouble finding some secrets than a couple switches. Something I felt was off was the weapons, I never found a super shotgun, and couldnít find anything past the rocket launcher. This could have very well been because I couldnít find the secrets, or I just missed them. I feel like power weapons should have been made a bit more available in the later levels.

Final Thoughts

ADooM is a lot of fun, especially if youíre a hardcore Doom fan. These action packed, challenging levels, will keep you on your toes. The level design will keep you exploring and wanting to look around every corner. Personally speaking I'd recommend playing this with a friend. Tackling these levels with someone would be a great time. Even if someone gets salty.

Thoughts from Sematary (owner of Doom Wad Station).

Put some time away for this one. You could be playing this one for several hours depending on difficulty level and your skill level.

I didn't do this review (even though I wanted to) because I simply didn't have the time. I had played it to level 8 and found a few issues that needed to be addressed by the authors (probably because I was using Zdoom and the authors didn't). They fixed those issues and then it was played again by Jake C3 who has provided the screenshots and the review. Enjoy. This is a good one. To my knowledge, this can not be found anywhere else on the internet and it's a keeper.

P.S. - I don't think these screenshots really do these maps the kind of justice they deserve. But then again, do they ever?
