Overall - SCORE: 6.3

Overall, not a bad effort. If I could offer any advice to the author it would be to slow down, take the time to check your textures and run through the maps several times and tweak ammo/health/creatures. Check the lighting too. These maps are definitely too bright in spots. Detail was excellent for the most part and some of the structures were truly cool. I'd download it again

This is actually many maps - about eight or so I think. I've played through the first three and haven't really been challenged too hard. Most of what I ran into were zombies and Imps. I usually had plenty of time to choose the weapon I thought would dispatch them the most easily and then frag em. Still, the game kept my interest and I actually found myself glued to the computer as I ripped through one badass after another. If you're just looking for a good time, this is your ho. If you're looking for a long term relationship though, you might want to move on. Those with skillz won't be impressed. It is probably a good set of maps for the beginning to lower intermediate dooming type.

Playability -  rating: 7

I really did have difficulty walking away from this, even after three maps and some quality time in front of my monitor. The first two maps are fairly reasonable recreations of the original maps from Doom2. This helped to keep my interest some as I wanted to see how well they came out. I'd say after playing into the fourth map this is probably a set I'll play through once and then discard but for the time being I'm enjoying it. There was never a lack of health or weapons except briefly in the third map and their weren't any more difficult creatures until map3 either.

Level Design -  rating: 6

This author still has some work to do but he definitely has a clue. He says in the text file that comes with this that he's got about 125 hours into it. That might sound like alot but when you're looking at about 8 maps it really isn't and to be honest, it shows. Lighting was basically horrendous in places and properly atmospheric in other places. Textures were jarringly out of place in some spots and even missing in one conspicuous spot in the first map. I'll also say that his own unique levels (from what I saw) were far better than the two recreations of the first two Doom 2 levels. He does have talent, as I said.
