DIFFICULTY RATING  - rating: 9

You are in for an Old School thrashin' with this one.  "Prison" has booby traps galore and not a whole lot of help in the form of health and ammo so you're going to bite the big one quite a few times here.  Clear off your save files and start filling it up when you play this.  I STRONGLY advise you to save just before picking up a key, entering a new room, or even after clearing a room.  There wil be baddies waiting for you around every corner, hiding in every shadowy nook, even behind seemingly "harmless" decor.  It got so bad for me that at one point, all I had to fight with was my brass knuckles and I commenced to wailin' on a group of Demons in a hallway!

Playability -  rating: 8.8

I don't know if there were any secrets in this map; don't care.  I was too busy staying alive.  If there are, then it's worth another go around.  This map has been set up to trip you along the way; even if you've played this thru once or twice, it'll still be fun to go thru again.  However, once you've mastered the traps, it's a cake walk.  Still, this is a map to add to the archives for certain.

Level Design -  rating: 10

"Prison is very nicely done and is a non-linear map.  The action flows very well, and the structuring is top-notch. There are a few monsters that were stuck in areas that were too small for them so they were fixed in place, like two Barons in the end-level area and a Pain Elemental that was cooling its heels behind a fireplace (which was a cool concept) so they could not attack.  I didn't mind since I needed a break in the action (phew!) .  But besides that, the game "was on like popcorn"!  I gotta hand it Adam; he took the original Doom II and TNT textures and made all new doors adn things that looked excellent.  There's a lot to see, if you can stave off the enemy long enough. :-)   You will have a good ol' time in The Prison!  Everybody sing with me; "I'm locked up, they won't let me out!  Locked up...  I'm locked up..."
