What
better way to start a Saturday morning than with a good game. Ah, yes...it
harkens back to those thrilling days of yesteryear...80s....when I would
wake up and hit the ol' Atari, cussing at it until Bugs Bunny would come
on. Well, this is like that...sorta.
Marbellous is a large map (in spite of the mapper claiming that
it's medium) with tons of that good ol' marble texture that's used to good
effect. Out of all the zones I checked out, there was only ONE sector (a
switch) that had an off center marble texture. The overall map is well
designed, anyhow.
DIFFICULTY:
It was a bitch on Hurt Me Plenty. And I mean that. I was constantly ducking
snipers, running from ambushes, and paying for keys with blood. There is
plenty of ammo and health/armor throughout, but it felt scarce because I was
fighting tooth and nail trying to stay alive, all the while cussing up a
storm. When I thought I made it thru the map, there was yet one more key to
find....one more boss battle to survive....one more cuss word to invent.
DESIGN:
It follows the traditional style of mapping, nothing innovative. It's just
very simple and to the point. Yet, it made good use of lighting, teleports,
hiding baddies. It requires lots of tracking back and forth flipping
switches and gaining keys. You will find yourself in tight situations with
things hitting you from odd angles, making it a task to draw a bead on
targets. You will find yourself on the brink of death a LOT. Bring your
skills with this one.
SUMMARY:
A very
well made map. A very frustrating map. This map's so good that I wanna slap
the mapper!
